Chapter 5: gender comparisons in cognitive abilities and attitudes about. Recent research shown that there are little differences, but there is between male and female, more of a overlap of data. Both sides of the research topic is biased. Female tend to score higher on verbal tasks whereas male do better in spatial ability tasks. Males generally perceive themselves of higher intelligence than females; females judge themselves higher in emotional intelligence. Criticism of whether the tasks in the intelligence tests are actually accurate to measure intelligence. Females have better memory with non-verbal memory (i. e. : emotions, facial expression) females tend to make longer eye contact, touch more, smile more. Sat used to predict academic success in university: criticized for placing males at an advantage. Less females would be accepted to university: standardized tests based on implicit ideas about males and females in cognitive abilities.
