Example: sanctioning asking/insisting that person have symptoms treated: stages in delaying medical care, treatment delay - time between noticing a symptom and seeking medical care, stages of treatment delay. Appraisal delay - time to interpret symptom; affected most by sensory experience of symptom. Illness delay - time between recognizing one"s ill and deciding to seek care; affected by thoughts about symptom. Best cam results were for chiropractic and deep-tissue massage for back pain: problem with cam methods is little to no scientific evidence of safety or effectiveness. Focus on initial problem while ignoring other issues. Lack of money to engage in regimen.
