They think that we must observe organisms in their natural environment. This makes evolutionary sense because once the mother giving birth to the small ducks, they came out of their shell, they see the mother, and the mother takes care of them. The main, major characters of ethology is to observe animal behaviour including humans, in the natural setting. Consummatory behaviour - fixed pattern of responding to specific stimuli - i. e. a stickleback mating behaviour. Appetitive behaviour - behaviours subjected to modifications in food searching.
