Visual system is the primarily thing we"ll learn. Q: why study perception and why study it in psych dept: a: many people are interest in it. For example: if you want to build a machine or something, you need to know the sensual and perception things. People need to know the auditory system since people would need to hear to the smoke alarm: 20-20,000 hz is the range human can hear; frequency is one of the thing that human are sensitive to. Last example: make a sign (such as speed limit and exit) you need to create letters at an optimal size that people can see at a certain distance. People need to know a little bit about the visual system in order to create signs. There is an upside down 2d image in each eye. The brain takes away all the distortion and blurriness and somehow put the images right side up.
