Longitudinal studies- when a researcher studies one group of individuals (cohort) through an extended period of time, this time may vary from months to years. The frequency in which the cohort are examined will vary, usually they"re born in the same year. External changes in society will be consistent throughout the cohort, war natural disaster. It"s the best way of measuring the impact of developmental. Puberty, you will have information to when that took place. You can combine with experimental research as well, randomly assigned to groups to an extent because parents won"t have you randomly assigned their kids. It"s very expensive, you need to have a lot of money with inflation. You need to follow the subjects all the time. The data needs a long time to be gathered. Generalizability of the data, a specific cohort going through a specific timeframe may not be generalizable.
