Document Summary
We"re always motivated to bring our drive level down to zero. A drive is an energy from within that is biological in nature. Look at it from the other end. Can pull you towards it, or it can repel you. There is an optimal level of arousal that is just right. Maslow was concerned with what needs or motives drive people. Organized it in a hierarchy; the ones near the bottom are most fundamental. Our motivation to satisfy these needs are inborn. We are motivated to remove a deficiency or discomfort. Even when there is no deficiency, people are motivated to develop beyond their present condition. Bottom of hierarchy; most concerned of being fulfilled. If they are not satisfied, it will lead to a deficiency. If this need is not met, potentially you could die. People like to think they"re doing something worthwhile and worthy of respect.
