Document Summary
Cognitive learning (thinking and mental processes): learning through language, acquiring mental information. Presents the dog with food, has tube implanted on inside of dog"s cheek to measure how much saliva is present when food is observed. Dog started salivating when there was a bell going o , whenever the food was presented, there would be a bell in the background going o . The dog was associating the food with the sound of the bell. Unconditional response (ur): a response that"s automatic, re exive and requires no prior learning. Some examples are salivating, someone blows in your eyes you automatically blink, walking along hallway and someone jumps out from behind closed door and you inch. Unconditioned stimulus (us): proceeds and triggers the ur. Conditioned stimulus (cs): any stimulus thats paired with the unconditioned stimulus and eventually elicits a response identical to the unconditioned response. Conditioned response (cr): response triggered by cs and identical to the ur.
