Document Summary
Stimulus generalization: when a r to a s is reinforced and a r also occurs to a new similar stimulus. Stranger that looks very similar to dad(s), the kid will still smile at the stranger due to similarity. Sti(cid:373)ulus dis(cid:272)(cid:396)i(cid:373)i(cid:374)atio(cid:374): whe(cid:374) a r does (cid:374)ot o(cid:272)(cid:272)u(cid:396) with a (cid:374)ew s that"s si(cid:373)ila(cid:396) to the o(cid:396)igi(cid:374)al s. The opposite of above, so essentially if the baby does(cid:374)"t s(cid:373)ile, (cid:373)ea(cid:374)i(cid:374)g that the (cid:271)a(cid:271)y is a(cid:271)le to discriminate between who is the dad. Discriminant stimulus (sd): signals that a r will be reinforced. Dad always pay attention to the kid and the kid smiles. The stranger never pays attention to the kid and the kid does not smile. The dad would be the sd, because the kid gets reinforcement from the dad. Another example: pigeon in a skidder box, with a red light and green light, red light means no food, and green light means food.
