Document Summary

Consumers may be the drive to successful capitalism, but without the labourer there would be no commodities to sell. A labourer is someone who survives by selling their labour power (skills) Before, people would simply sell whatever surplus they had to survive (owning their own means of production) The genius of capitalism lies in its ability to produce goods that get sold and bought. Workers can move to areas of capitalist employment. Intense periods of labour migration in which millions of workers travel the whole earth in search of employment under capitalist production. Deeply divided set of working conditions and wages based on age, gender, and race. Workers must accept the conditions and regimen of the working day. Wherever there is power, there is resistance. History of capitalism has involved moments of resistance both large and small, in which workers have tried to redefine their situation in ways that make their conditions of life better.
