Voluntary - physician admits, come through er, gp, psych. Involuntary - physician exam; jp order; police action. Criminal committal: court orders under criminal code or mental health act. Voluntary admission status: many people come to hospital voluntarily; are seeking help, may agree to be admitted into hospital to appease family/ friends, may agree to admission, but may be reluctant to take medication or treatment.
