Geology: study & composition of earth (or any world with a solid surface) Earth"s suitability for life: temperature, water, protective atmosphere, & environment. Terrestrial biosphere: all organisms in different earth ecologies (atmosphere, land, and oceans) & system of life on earth. Habitable zone: the region of a certain distance from sun that allows water to be on planet (not ice) Habitable orbit: fairly circular orbit = distance from sun doesn"t vary too much = stable climate. Tides: caused by our very large moon"s gravity. Asteroid protection: from our moon & large jupiter"s gravity to de ect incoming objects. Seasons: generated from the axis tilt (23. 5 degrees) & not the distance from sun. Position in it"s solar system (3rd position where water can exist as a liquid) 3 aspects of earth"s geology for life. Create oceans: release material/gas from earth"s interior (ex:co2/h2o)
