Shift from renewable to non renewable energy sources. One major development from using new energy sources: pollution. Wood- renewable source, but rising population and greater land use became scarce. Coal was necessary in operating steam tech. Usability get rid of excess water railways/trains operated with steam automotives. A change in energy consumption (more energy being used then before, about. 5x more) coal/oil being used much more than before. But was filthy with pollution, filthy and disease. Hard to live in, more people began to move in urban locations. Living conditions: throwing toilet waste outside random, coal made everyone"s clothes black, Wage labor, hierarchy of workers, increased use of clock to regulate worker production. Money economy as opposed to trading good and services. Exploitation of labor: wages unchanged in early 1800s even tho production of cotton has increased 4x profits and 2x worker productivity. Increase in factory production and change in how people worked.
