Has convection currents, which is what cause plate tectonics. Two theories: whole layer convection, and multiple layer convection. Aka pressure waves, primary waves, compression waves. Material from mantle swells up to create new rock. Subduction zone when one plate forced under the other; oceanic lithosphere denser so sinks underneath light continental plate. Kimberlite pipes, a special type of conduit for lava, often contains diamonds.
