Common perception of politics is: corrupt b) ine ective, a waste of time many people have this view this view underpins the declining rates of participation in democratic institutions. It is none of these things, but it is crucially important. Political decisions a ect the economy, the quality of the environment, the freedoms you enjoy, and whether your country will send troops to ght in another part of the world. The biggest threat to the world is a critical political issue. Start with climate change which there are rising levels of co2 which leads to trapping heat which causes global warming. Industrial processes which are burning fossil fuels (oil and gas) which leads to co2 emissions which go into the atmosphere and trap heat. To reverse the process, you have to generate a new set of political structures of power and authority which will allow dramatic change (revolutionary change) in how production, consumption, and living standards are determined.
