The first way to communicate electronically was the telegraph. It was only to be used for emergency purposes. They did not want this device to be used for sociability. There were limited amount of lines to make long calls. Cultural; many members of the early industry came from the time of telegraph, telegraph people were to used to quick and short messages. It wasn"t aimed for women because they were generalized that the are. People purchase cell phones as a way of feeling safe, and connected. Both were marketed as tools for safety. We are now able to text with our cell phones. We are losing our ability to use our voice and talk to someone. The grammar and shortcuts we use to text gets embedded to us when writing practically. People feel an emotional connection to a cell phone. The way you customize your phone tells one what kind of person you are.
