Chronic obstrucive pulmonary disease (copd): combinaion of both chronic bronchiis and. The disease : 4th largest cause of death. Diagnosis : hard to diagnose, underdiagnosed , test isn"t done, many docs don"t know the guidelines to diagnose this. Caused: smoking, and polluion (toronto is very polluted) Treatment: can be prevented/treated, if diagnosed early enough can be managed, there are medicaions and rehabs, but many docs don"t know how to diagnose it. Believed to be the dieases of the boomers. Bacteria destroys lung issues, contagious, cough out blood. Highest rate of death in 20s, 30s, 40s. Anibioic came, now isnt too bad, but now on the rise with the elderly: immune beoming worse, tb can be reacivated if they had it earlier and now can redevelop it. Nursing homes can shut down if spread too much. Prevenion: take lots of luids, take lu shots (efecive for elderly) Taking lu shot (if mandatory) takes away from human rights.
