Blue collar workers have their identity with their jobs (they see their jobs as the most important thing) What do people do after they retire: travel, senior activities (golf, bridge, curling, get involved at the church or volunteer, look after the grandchildren or get a dog. People who can"t do nothing have to structure their retirement. Where to live: many old people downsize from large houses to small condos. A lot of people move to smaller towns and cities (less expensive) Some go to retirement communities (geriatric activity that is tranquil, when you need to be active) Some go to florida - health care problems. Positive side of retirement: less stress and more leisure time. 2 big retirement mistakes: opening a restaurant, getting the band from high school back together, *finances. Most important aspect (#1) of a successful retirement. Most devastating thing for a man to borrow money from his children.
