Document Summary

Organs function in collaboration with other organs and systems. Examples of feedback systems: eyes (receptors)-> brain (integrator) -> muscles (effector, eyes (receptors) that takes in info & sends it to brains (integrator) to figure out what response will be. Info goes to muscles (effector) to carry out response: kidney is also an integrator- regulates blood pressure. What is homeostasis: stable conditions, maintain functions & internal environments, we adapt to stress. We adapt (cid:271)/(cid:272) (cid:271)ody (cid:272)a(cid:374)"t (cid:272)o(cid:373)e (cid:271)a(cid:272)k to (cid:374)or(cid:373)al: maintained on many different levels in body, chemical level, cellular level, tissue, organ, body system, organisms- whole body. Involved input, regular maintenance & output: ex: regulation of water, we intake water & its metabolically produced by body. Water goes into the internal pool of water inside body. Water is used, stored, excreted to maintain levels. Excess water is excreted: body has set point. Deviation from set points are compensated for by out physiological systems- feedback.
