One post synaptic cell can be receiving input from many other presynaptic cells. This concept is referred to as convergence of input. All of these cells are summed up, and the post synaptic neuron decides whether to re or not. That one neuron can then go off and send out the signal to a multitude of other cells. Takes the decisions of the cns and brings them out to the rest of the body. The efferent division brings information from the cns, outwards to muscles and other effector tissues: brings information to your organs, muscles, and tells them how to function based on what the. Focus is mostly on the efferent division, which is bringing information from the cns, out to the periphery. Interneurons: link the afferent and efferent systems, they link the two types of neurons together to allow for interaction and communication.
