Document Summary

5 leukocytes in circulation are: neutrophils, basophils, eosinophils, monocytes, lymphocytes: they don"t have much of an e ect in the blood though, most of their e ect is found in the lymphoid tissues. Lymphoid tissues: are specialized tissues where we see white blood cells either being stored, processed, produced, or activated. Lymphoid tissues can be primary or secondary: primary: development of lymphoid cells. The two main sites of primary lymphoid tissue is your bone marrow and thymus. Lymphoid development refers to the development of b and t cells. B cells develop in bone marrow, and t cells develop in the thymus: secondary: all other spots in the lymphatic drainage system. Usually we nd these tissues in areas where the lymphatic drainage intersects with the circulatory system. Lymph nodes: one of our secondary lymphoid tissues. They"ve become highly specialized for the activation processes of b and t lymphocytes.
