Document Summary

Kine1020 lecture 2 coninuaion of cardiorespiratory physiology and fitness. Protein carrier for o2 since o2 doesn"t difuse well in the blood. Carries up to 4 o2 molecules but can also carry other gases e. g. co2, co, no, etc. Movement of blood in and out is dependent on a concentraion gradient (difusion) To increase eiciency, capillaries must be so thin that only one rbc at a ime can pass through. Can also be accomplished by having more capillaries. Enough training can cause body to add more capillaries since it will be used to having to bring more o2 to issue. Thin capillaries also slow speed of blood rushing by, increasing the transit/difusion ime. Takes 2-3 minutes for cardiorespiratory system to catch up with muscle expenditure of energy. Run an o2 deicit so that you can get enough nutrients to the working muscles in the meanime by using anaerobic metabolism.
