New ways of thinking must be accompanied with new ways of acting (otherwise, change will not occur) Change starts with self and relationships with others. Stereotyping = easy way of understanding relations and simplifying the task of getting to know ppl. Antonio gramsci = power as ideological all ppl are at par. Hegemony= something working against you, is good for you (titanic) Theory of hegemony = power is never static (dominant group must improve hegemony), it changes. Michael foucault = said power is never total. Media portrays oppression satirically; eg. russell peters making racist jokes. Equality = sameness (promotes justice by giving the same thing) - only works if all are at same place. Equity = fairness (making sure ppl get access to same opportunities)
