Were going to build a golf course and condominium on aboriginal burial grounds. First nation groups in british columbia and the canadian government did not come to an agreement for the land. A celebration of canadian identity was actually on unceded territory. Recognition was finally award to the aboriginal peoples after court and many protests. Unfortunate that it took so long, but it is a cause for celebration. Team decided to no longer use their logo (chief--) Owner quite resistance to the call to change their team. Changed their names as a result of recognizing that using aboriginal names as mascots or team names is offensive. The intention is "positive" to use that word/form of appreciation. "no harm" there are real issues that need to be addressed. Justification of those who call for its removal.
