He was able to use that technology to build a telescope in 1609. Understood that the moon had mountains and craters. Society put galileo under house arrest, instead of embracing his ideas. Inquisition : group of institutions within the government system of the catholic. Suppressed many of the greatest minds and innovators. Johannes kepler (1571-1630) was the first to understand that the rotation of the planets was not circular but elliptical.
