Naionalism had a posiive efect on our naional idenity. The home front: social reprecussions a) b: super-patrioism: women, non-enlisters, and enemy aliens. Feeling of total commitment to canada"s cause with a strong intolerance to those who are not similarly commited. Ordinary canadians were moved and donated money on soldiers. Doctors and denists donated their services free of charge. Established patrioic organizaions, fund raising events tea party"s, bazars. Many women ofered to replace men in male dominated posiions so that men would be free to enlist. Women began entering heavy industries such as railroad shops and steel mills. Improved status of women, as they moved into posiions that were previously closed to them. Also some negaive efects: treatment of non-enlisters/enemy aliens. Ypres, irst gas atack that led to mass amount of canadian casualies. Men were being turned to the high wages of the war industries. Patrioic leagues would organize things to restore enthusiasm to the war.
