HUMA 1105 Lecture Notes - Lecture 28: Omen, Eurycleia, Odysseus
Document Summary
Argos the hound, is in someways like odysseus, in that he is broken down, tossed around, and forsaken. Book 18: we meet iros, who is a beggar. This is because they both appear to be beggars, but iros was there rst, so he feels as if odysseus is taking his spot as a beggar. Odysseus laughed that she was charming gifts out of the suitors although she was intending to marry none. Penelope wants odysseus the beggar to be bathed, before she can talk to him. Penelope comes in and takes odysseus"s side, by telling the girl that she knows about the relationship she has with one of the suitors, and that it will cost her her life. Odysseus in his conversation with penelope spins her a tale, its his usual crap. Eurycleia is preparing to wash odysseus"s feet and hands, and she says that he looks like.
