Lecture 10, the iliad book 2 & 3. The material that achilles and agamemnon use to act out their honour is the women that are exchanged. With the trojans, the women have the right to speak since they make decisions using families. The greeks are very political though in that they have meetings to discuss anything and everything that needs to happen. To his surprise they all say ok and get ready to leave: odysseus comes in though and convinces the troops to come back by talking to them one by one and appealing to them using shame and violence. Milman perry & albert lord: recorded the guslari, and could recite things much longer than the odyssey. Paris and menaleus are going to face o each other, since they are the two main men and they are both married to helen: this however doesn"t happen since paris cowards out.
