HRM 3400 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Repetitive Strain Injury, Musculoskeletal Disorder, Median Nerve
Document Summary
Ergonomics- study of mental and physical capacities of people in relation to demands made upon them from different types of work. Removes barriers to quality, productivity & safe performance by fitting products, tasks, & env"t to worker doing work. Purpose and goals of ergonomics- occupational injury/ illness & abseentism reduction. Methods for goals accomplished- evaluate and control work site risk factors. Identify /quantify of existing work site risk conditions. Recommendation of controls reduce identified risk conditions. Evaluation of mgmt. and workers to risk conditions. & ee don"t understand risk factors then still working not knowing what"s causing problem. Longer ee working in same condition and has repetitive strain injury, longer to get better. Musculoskeletal system- bones, joints, muscles and connective tissues that provide body framework allows body to move. Bones connected to ligaments; supported by muscles connected to bones through tendons and ligaments. Nerves give feedback on what we"re doing then go to brain.
