HREQ 1800 Lecture 4: Tutorial Notes
Document Summary
Children do not participate in research because they are intimidated, perception that kids are just adults in making, don"t have the cognitive skills, don"t understand the world as an adult would. Reasons that children are not as involved in research: cognitive skills lacking, not adults, intimidated by adults. One of the ways we can make our knowledge more valid/validity . We want to be as close to reality as possible. It depends what type of research the researcher is doing. If the research is about early childhood, teenagers, development, innocence, etc. anything of that nature then we should involve children because they would know best about the topic. They are the ones living that reality currently as opposed to working with as a grown adult and asking them questions that would most likely involve them recalling memories that are corrupted by new ways of thinking and mistakes.
