Document Summary

Lecture women writings in south asia. There was no name of that one". Name is a very important thing for anyone, it defines selfhood, it is an intimate part of identity. There is no name, but there are many names that are given to her. Everything we know about, has a name. Whether it"s science, literature, anything and everything has a name. Name also gives certain details of religion, class, etc. But not having a name shows that she can be anyone", and anyone can be her. The story is a first person narrative from safia"s perspective. Everyone around safia has negative comments about that one". The story does not show men or man against woman/women, it instead shows women vs. women. Writers often use open endings in a story to leave room for discussion. The women were like bullies who had some sort of anxieties" hidden in their behaviour. The character of that one" keeps coming back.
