ENVS 2000 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Feminist Movement, Built Environment
Document Summary
It"s important to take a broad view of the environment because the world is complicated. Politics- individual and collective action, involves bringing issues to the public sphere and negotiating multiple and sometimes opposing claims about those issues. Putting thinking into action, taking charge of our lives and the way we do things. Every type of person takes action anywhere and everywhere, not just government(happens in all public spheres) Person is political - all acts are political(even intimate ones) Public issues are politicalavailable for everyone to discuss and negotiate. When the environment has issues it becomes political. Opposing views on the environment causes issues that are political. Ex. what to do with a given area . Need to negotiate issues because having one view is bad politics.
