Point of today"s class: problematize the work of non-fiction. Lecture 7: the lifespan of a fact: non-fiction is one of the two main division in prose writing. It is a real-life story based on facts not fiction. In general, literary non-fiction is distinguished from fiction by its loyalty to the facts of the story. It attends to the qualities of literary techniques to make it literary art. It is easier to remember something like 4,3,2,1 rather than 3. 3. Metaphors are familiar to you and they can only work because they are familiar to you. A run of numbers is familiar to you: you don"t need to know anything about math or what: figurative language we want to give it this elevated position.
