Every police has a professional standards and this is the branch of police services that investigates allegations of misconduct of police officers. Every police service has relevantly transparent complaint mechanisms. All complaints against the police originate from the police service. Police services use the same form: the first person you would talk to is the sergeant who is the first level of authority of an officer. The shift supervisor must file and sign a formal statement of complaint. This statement then goes to professional standards and then you get investigated. You might get interviewed and look through data. Officers have the right to appeal outside under ocops (committee of 3 judicators who hear a case in a tribunal and then they make their recommendations) Police officers are charged criminally (usually under branch of service) Police officers will face 2 trials in this case, a criminal trial and administrative trial. The police cases that are done internally are not publicly available.
