Document Summary

Monotremes are very distinct mammals based on their reproductive mechanisms (ex. duck-billed platypus, echinda: echidna are oviparous (that"s why they are distinct) Eutheria includes primates (like us), rodentia (rats, squirrels), carnivora (dogs, cats), Keratin is alpha keratin for epidermis so it is not as hard as the beta keratin that forms hard epidermis in reptiles. Epidermis includes an epithelial layer which is basically cells that secrete . Sweat glands and hair follicles arise from epidermis. Dotted area is epidermis so if you follow it down, you see it includes the hair follicle. The epithelial layer invaginates into the dermis and specializes into a sweat gland or hair follicle and embeds itself in the dermis and then goes out. Hypodermis is similar to reptiles where you have a lot of fatty deposits (yellow things) and you have major food vessels in hypodermis too: epidermis : outer region of the skin. The epidermis is a strati ed epithelium (layers of different cells)
