Document Summary

C1 cells are the fundamental structural units or building blocks of all organisms. C2 an organism is defined as a living thing. C3 cells are composed of protoplasm contained in a membrane. [protos = first; plasma = something formed or molded] C4 protoplasm is the essential material of all cells in living organisms. Life depends on, and arises out of, the continuous chemical activity that occurs in protoplasm. It is also a complex colloidal system containing particles of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids (rna & dna). C5 a colloidal system is a permanent suspension of finely divided particles. These cells contain dna, but no true nucleus. = true kernel [nucleus]) these cells contain dna within a membrane bound nucleus. Examples include protists, fungi, plants and animals, most of which are multicellular organisms. C7 the classification system now consists of three domains: bacteria and archaea (comprised of prokaytic celled organsims) and eukarya (comprised of eukaryotic celled organisms).
