With academic research need to understand their main argument and related arguments. This is what needs to be examined and critically assessed. Use of a comparative method to explore differences and similarities in social institutions and belief systems in a variety of societies. The immersion of researchers in the lives and cultures of the people they are trying to understand in orders to comprehend the meanings these people ascribe to their existence. Long term ethnographic interaction, often involving a period of many months or a few years.
