Divine love: presence for worshiping is not emphasised, much more significant emphasise on offering ren , spending time worshipping a deity takes away from creating those right relationships through ren . Compassionate love: *most important one, compassion is usually seen through ren, harmony and respecting others in specific forms, sense of obligation to others, is pervasive. ex. Younger to elder: living for the good of society. Influence of confucianism: essence of confucianism is compassionate love humane harmonious life, born in great social unrest, aim to repair anarchy and wars in ancient chinese society. Jongmyo shrine: a confucian temple in south korea. Narcissism: opposite of ren and altruistic love, ex. Princess j: opposite of what is valued in china, means to be vain, obsessed with their image and their selves, the west primarily values self-love and is born into a narcissistic world.
