Natural science psych followed 2 quantitative methodological paths, minority used qualitative methods. Experimental psych took many forms before settling into the repeated measures controlled lab" format common in early 21st century. 2 types of experiments that emerged: controlled experimentation + experimental control. Decrease in the role of individual differences in data analysis. Decrease in breadth of study in natural science psychology; w factors that transcend time, place and person removed, topics of interest to many researchers were eliminated. Research relationship changed as there was increase in number of participants in a given study. Problem of interpersonal biases or artifacts" can impede a researcher"s ability to study a participant. In 1960/70s researchers began to look at the social psychology of the experiment and researcher and participant effects were both identified. Objectification of psychological phenomena by natural-science researchers was done to legitimize psych + to make psychology seem as fact based/quantifiable as other natural sciences.
