Document Summary

These are more rare, but much easier to see. Role of context: bronfenbrenner (reference diagram at the end of the notes) Looks at environment as a much bigger picture. Child development takes place through processes of progressively more complex interactions between an active child and the persons, objects, and symbols in its immediate environment. Interaction must be on a regular basis over extended periods of time. Involves face to face interactions: child-parents interactions, child teacher interactions, these interactions are bi-directional and reciprocal since it"s an interaction, they both end up having an impact on eachother for ex. A child with autism doesn"t want to be picked up, starts crying, so the parent puts them down so that they are comfortable. Child in class with adhd, teacher ask class to sit in a circle and the child takes up half the time running around the class. Teacher might get frustrated, or might ignore them and move on with the class.
