An overview of types of disorders and developmental problems in adolescence: Developmental and learning disorders: mental retardation, learning disorders, pervasis developmental disorders (pdds ex autism) The prevalence and course of autism spectrum disorders and schizophrenia in adolescence and young adulthood: Both these disorders persist across lifespan though vary with treatment. Asds characterizied by severe and general disruptions of social interaction, communication, and daily life activities. Difficulty in understanding rudiments of typical theory of mind most children grasp by 3/4 regarding intentions/meanings of others" social behaviours. Some fail to use language at all, self stimulative behaviours, body movements, and object movements. Strongest predictors of adult outcome is iq scores and language skills; those with better language and iq scores at age 5 will do better in adult functioning.
