Document Summary

Study 1- correlational; in a correlational study the investigator determines whether two variables (in this case birth order and elementary academic performance) are statistically related. By definition the other choices then do not correctly apply to the scenario. Study 3- longitudinal; as stated, the two research designs for studying development are either longitudinal or cross-sectional. Being that there is not clear age being looked at, but rather the change in development over a period of time it cannot be cross-sectional and therefore must be longitudinal. Furthermore, it is then expected that the level of development will be tracked from birth until the study is conclusive.
