PS270 Lecture 10: First Middy Shortened
Document Summary
When someone"s behavior is constant, we usually refer to it as his or her personality. Thinking, memory, and attitudes all operate on two levels: conscious and deliberate and the other unconscious and automate. This definition is the error of defining what is good in terms of what is observable. The common mistake to say well everybody is doing it s it must be right, it ought to be right. Hindsight bias: the tendency for someone to exaggerate, once finding out the outcome, that they could have foreseen that happening. Theory: an integrated set of principles that explain and predict observed events. Hypothesis: a testable proposition that describes a relationship that may exist. Taking a theoretical variable crowd , operationalization-ing it would be 20 people in a small room. Take the hypothetical variable violence and operationalization it to shocks given. Field research: research done in natural, real life setting outside the laboratory.
