Explanation for actor-observer effect: different motivation. The farther away the memory the more likely you are to see yourself in the memory: different information available. Actors have more consistency and distinctiveness information. Self-serving bias about their own behaviour: we will make whatever attribution serves us best, take personal credit for positive outcomes and vice versa.
