Several questions can help determine whether behaviour is abnormal: Is the behaviour maladaptive? Not losing contact with reality or violating important social norms. Psychosis: severe psychological disorder, sometimes requiring hospitalization impaired functioning everyday life. Typically lose conact with reality, delusions and/ or hallucinations + seriously. Feeling that something bad is about to happen. May be associated with a particular situation or object, or it may be free-floating -- not associated with anything specific.
