Overview of the topics we will be covering. Multitude of cancers or tumors that occur in children. Pediatric: most common age group is from 0-19. 90,000 deaths per year under the age of 15. Highest number of disease- related deaths of individuals aged 0-19 in canada per year- greater than asthma, cystic fibrosis (cf), diabetes, and aids (or hiv) combined. Abnormal multiplication of white blood cells, inhibiting organ functions. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (all) (75%: higher cure 90-85% cure rate, increase success rate. Typically tumors, found in brain or spinal cord. Blood cell tumours developed from lymphatic tissues: hodgkin lymphoma. Radiation/ radio therapy: shrink the cancerous cells in the body. Surgery: get the tumour out of the certain area in the body. Maintenance/remission: no signs, but go for regular check ups. Completion: you are diagnosed with cancer, and go for regular check ups. Cancer changes everything really quickly (main point o the video)
