Document Summary

Hydrology science of water, its global circulation, distribution and properties, especially water at and (cid:271)elow earth"s surfa(cid:272)e. Two driving forces of fluvial systems: insolation and gravity. Rill develops in one storm then disappears when storm leaves, if larger turns into gully. Gully develops during storm and stays after storm leaves then dries up, if larger turn into strea(cid:373). River has water in it all the time. Humid climate is associated with a high drainage density and a typical desert has a very low drainage density. Drainage pattern is the arrangement of channels in an area which is influenced by climatic and geologic conditions. Gradient of a stream the drop in elevation per unit distance, river has a steeper slope nearer the headwaters and a more gradual slope downstream. Level below stream cannot erode its valley is base level, in general, the ultimate base level is sea level. The faster a river moves, the larger the volume of material it moves.
