Document Summary

We come now to the part of jane eyre that everybody remembers: the love story of. On the surface, they couldn"t be more different, but, as we shall see, there are similarities between them that give an illustration of the perception of women and the options open to them at this time. Because the thorn eld section of jane eyre is so long, i have divided it into two parts. In this part, we will focus on the women who are models for jane (and who are very unlike helen burns and miss temple), and in the next section we will look at mr. At the opening of the novel, jane described herself as concealed by curtains, a character effectively relegated to an offstage life. Here, however, she places herself at center stage, beginning a new act in the drama of her life.
