We pick our commodities based on our type of identity. Our whole lives are based on simulacra": simulacra just an image, doesn"t have any signified. A copy of something that doesn"t have an original. A copy of something we have an idea of, but it doesn"t really exist. Image of idealized life in america: we prefer this over real life. Economy is a cultural experience, it is not surprising that design has become. Images become real to us and that"s why we purchase things.
