What is digitization? creation or conversion of information into a digital format- media like image, sound, word and makes material media intangible (vinyl record v. mp3). Information that becomes digitized becomes a characteristic of the moment and is said to be in uential in a host of different ways. The world the current generation lives in has always been digitized thinking of physical photographs, cassette tapes, etc. seems archaic to them. The digitization of media forms that used to be considered exclusive has opened more markets to convergence e. g. movies on the internet can be viewed on laptops now instead of tvs. We have all kinds of cultural commodities being created that demonstrate the robustness of the government in canada. e. g. bell has been around for a century. This shows how the old media giants don"t just get replaced by the new ones. Some people think that full digitization is going to make crtc and regulatory laws and bodies redundant.
