CP102 Lecture Notes - Lecture 11: Decision Support System, Relational Algebra, Data Mart
Document Summary
Database is a collection of related data that can be stored, sorted, organized, and queried. Data redundancy is extra copies of data in a database that can be problematic especially when a school has thousands of students. Data inconsistency is when different versions of the same data appear in different places in a database. Data centralization becomes a shared source that everyone can access. Data integrity means that the data contained in the data base is accurate and reliable. Normalization is the process that ensures data is organized most efficient. Database administrator is an it professional who is responsible for designing, constructing, and maintain databases; for larger databases. Relational database operates by organizing data into various tables based on logical groupings. Relationship is a link between tables that define how the data is related. Object oriented database stores data in objects rather than in tables. Unstructured data include audio clips, video clips, pictures, and large documents.
